Grooves at The Westin proudly presents an all-star line-up. Saxophonist Grace Kelly is one of the brightest young jazz stars of her generation. Joining her onstage is DW3, a powerhouse of contemporary jazz talent, and First Lady of Smooth Jazz, keyboardist Gail Jhonson.
Grace Kelly’s energy and exuberance onstage is infectious. She recorded her first album, Dreaming, when she was 12. At 14, she received the first of her ASCAP Foundation awards for her composition Every Road I Walked. She appeared as a regular on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s band, Stay Human, playing multiple reeds and singing. Maintaining a busy tour schedule , Kelly has drawn critical praise and new fans every year with headlining over 700 shows in 30 coutries at all major jazz festivals, from Montreux to Newport to Montreal.
R&B, jazz and Latin soul band DW3 has been entertaining for more than a decade, including encore performances on The Smooth Jazz Cruise. With Eric, William & Damon providing the LA-based band’s harmonious voices, outstanding musicians on keyboards, percussion, drums, bass and guitar round out the energetic group. DW3 has released three successful albums, the most recent of which rose to No. 16 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart.
Philadelphia born and raised Gail Jhonson is one of the most sought-after keyboardists in smooth jazz. She is Norman Brown’s musical director, has performed with major talent the likes of Vanessa Williams, Dave Koz, Pink, and many more. Jhonson composes and scores Gospel musicals, has her own Gospel Jazz radio show, and still has time to teach and give back through support of numerous charities.
